3. O's Place Jazz Newsletter (the review is no longer available)

Guitarist Royce Campbell usually presents a blues or straight-ahead jazz approach but for this session he ventures into free space. It was recorded in 1990 with Ratzo Harris (b), Terrence Cook (sax, oboe) and the late drummer Stan Gage for whom the release is dedicated. This is more slanted towards the fusion side of free jazz on songs like "Apollo" as there is quite a bit of structure and less of the chaotic randomness of free form. None the less you'll here Cook taking flight on quite a few solos and some spacey passages on the final few tracks; we liked it.
